National Irrigation Commission Honours Staff and Retirees (Source: JIS)
The National Irrigation Commission Limited (NIC) commemorated its 21st anniversary celebration under the theme Irrigation, Making the difference in Agriculture, with a Service of Thanksgiving at the Church of the Open Bible, 12 Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20 on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 10:15 a.m.
As part of the celebration, a number of Open Day and Exhibitions have been planned for the various district offices. The celebration will culminate with a long Service Award Ceremony on September 15, 2007.
Minister of Agriculture and Lands, Hon. Roger Clarke gave greetings at the Church Service. He stated that “except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” He alluded to the fact that the success of the company is attributable to the godly leaders at the helm.
Mr. Donovan Reid gave the reflections. He stated that the NIC was incorporated as a limited liability company on July 14, 1986.
Host pastor Rev. Dr. Alston Henry welcomed the group. Rev. Fitzroy Thomas gave the sermon - his theme was “ you can start bad and end up good.”
Musical items were done by NIC’s past scholarship awardees, followed by the NIC choir with a rendition of ‘ Thank you Lord for 21 years’ led by choir director and Admin Assistant at the NIC, Mrs. Monica Lawes.
Rev. Doreth Sylvester-Brown, Director of Corporate & Legal Services and Company Secretary, led the prayer of Intercession and Thanksgiving while Mrs. Beverly Cain and Mr. Courtney Wilmot, Admin Assistant and Works Superintendent respectively, read the scriptures.
Also in attendance were Chairman of NIC, Mr. Hopeton Fraser, members of the board, staff and members of staff from the Ministry of Agriculture & Lands.
