THE MINISTER’S MESSAGE

Hon. Donald Buchanan, M.P.

Minister of Water  & Housing

Five years ago, the National Irrigation         Commission Limited (NIC) responded to the Prime Minister’s invitation to establish a      Citizen’s Charter. This Charter sets out the   principles by which companies will operate and serve its customers, delivering friendly and quality service at all times.

Since my appointment as the Minister of  Water & Housing with  responsibility for the NIC, this is my first opportunity to publicly commit to this initiative. I join forces with the staff of the Commission in their quest to continue serving their customers. I laud the revision of this Charter as it signals an effort to raise the standards of customer service.

The Commission has mandated to improve its service to you its   treasured customers. This Charter outlines the standards and promises which they have kept to date. The Commission is required to operate a transparent business, provide timely information mainly through      annual reports and other publications, offer courteous and helpful   service and more than ever give value for money.

The Charter not only sets out operating standards, but it also outlines the role you have to play.

I once again publicly endorse and support the Citizen’s Charter and look forward to improved partnership between the Commission and its customers.
