The Operation Centre

The Operation Centre (OpC) became operational during August 1998. It was established with the mandate;
To coordinate appropriate programmes within the region island wide for the efficient and effective provision of the Commission’s irrigation service. The centre is headed by the Director of Systems Production, Operation and Maintenance, Mr. Milton Henry and comprises the following units:-

The Maintenance Unit (Civil & Pipe Works)
This unit is responsible for coordinating and effecting repairs to water distribution structures such as the canal network and pipelines and for effecting routine maintenance of all systems in order to ensure delivery to customers.

Mechanical Electrical Maintenance Unit
This unit monitors and supervises the operation and maintenance programmes of pumping plants and equipment in the irrigation systems island-wide. The responsible officers develop programmes of preventative maintenance including inspection visits, checks and identification of problems as required and seeing to repairs where necessary.

Workshop & Store
This unit was established to provide engineering support services on an island wide basis whereby the installation, repair and maintenance of the Commission’s equipment and structures can be done in a timely and cost effective matter.
